Invitations to contribute.

Today, I posted this website's presence and availability to our Google group. Many hands make light work. More importantly, this is a free and supportive environment to actually create many possibilities. So far there haven't been any posts since mine yesterday. I will use discretion and anonymously invite the other Advanced Course members to the Google group and this blog.

On the ThinkThunk homepage I added some drop-down menus for effect and to give an example of how we can include everyone's interests and passions.

Creating Possibility

It is no coincidence that this blog began immediately after taking a course on possibility. It is the hope, of the members of this blog, to reach out and help everyone to be inspired by their lives.

This intent of this blog is to empower people. As the world around us changes, so will the content and form of this blog. The suggestions and constructive criticism of participants, including members and those commenting, will have a powerful and fundamental impact. The usefulness, accessibility, relevance, and practicality of this blog and the website it supports (http://www.ThinkThunk.com) will ultimately determine its form.

Although this site is new, the vision for the possibility we intend to create for our community, the one you are in right now, is great. Please be an active participant by reading and contributing either articles or comments. We want you to make a difference in the world. The contributions you make now may make a real difference in someones life - especially when this project begins to grow quickly.

We genuinely invite you to please become a active member of this blog. If that is too much now, then please consider adding comments to articles you wish to add to. Additionally, please tell your friends to visit and start making a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Thank you - ThinkThunk

First Post - Setting Up A Blog.

So, this is what it's like for a neophyte to setup a blog. I was approaching the installion with some trepidation. It is really much simpler than I had imagined.

Hmmm, that may be a lie. Actually, that is a lie. It took only moments to follow the straightforward process of creating an account and writing a post. However, to get it to actually publish the post took some digging and time. I kept receiving "550" error(s) everytime I tried to publish. There was no information in the help section for the blog software. As I Googled for information I discovered this happens to be a permissions error. The required fix is to manually setup the paths for the archiving and site feed files to be able to write. Once I did that it worked like a charm.

http://www.thinkthunk.com/blog is the URL for this site. The blog you are now reading is named index.html and it is located in the blog directory.

I am providing the following examples, for other newbies, to save the frustration I experienced.

Under the "Settings" tab choose the Archiving tab. My setup looks like this:
Archive Frequency - Yes
Enable Post Pages - Yes
Archive Path - /webroot/htdocs/blog/
Archive URL - http://thinkthunk.com/blog/
Archive Filename - archive.html

Under the "Settings" tab choose the Site Feed tab. My setup looks like this:
Publish Site Feed - Yes
Descriptions - Full
Site Feed Server Path - /webroot/htdocs/blog/
Site Feed Filename - atom.xml
Site Feed URL - http://thinkthunk.com/blog/atom.xml

So, if you are setting up your own blog on your own Unix server, I hope this helps some new user to save some of the time and frustration I encountered.
